Red Hat Resistance Night | Melt the ICE | Craftivism
Join us at A Novel Idea Bookshop for Red Hat Resistance Night, a community craft‑in where we use crochet, knitting, and Tunisian crochet as acts of solidarity, resistance, and mutual aid. Bring your yarn and tools, settle in with fellow makers, and contribute to a movement rooted in care and collective action.
Entry Fee: Make a donation to an organization of your choice. Your receipt/stub will be your entry ticket.
What We’re Doing
We’ll gather to make red hats in support of immigrant aid efforts. Whether you’re an experienced crafter or just getting started, you’re welcome here. Every hat made, every pattern purchased, and every moment spent in community helps strengthen a broader network of support for those impacted by ICE. Together we need to learn to be better organizers and participate in mutual aid.
Why It Matters
Creating a space that is warm, accessible, and welcoming is itself a meaningful act. Pair that with raising funds, donating finished items, and participating in mutual aid, and you have a tangible way to show up for your neighbors. One small action is better than none at all.

Patterns & Participation
Patterns can be purchased from Needle & Skein, who has already raised over $400,000 through pattern sales and donations. You may use any hat pattern you like.

Support Local: Yarn from Red River Fiber Studio
You can purchase your yarn for this project from Red River Fiber Studio, a Lawton‑based indie yarn dyer who regularly pops up at my events and shares the love for chaos. They’re offering 15% off of Poltergeist in Red Stilettos and Librarians Vendetta to contribute. Use code MELTTHEICE
If you prefer not to have your yarn shipped or want it for the event, I’ll bring your order to A Novel Idea Bookshop for pickup — and we’ll also have a small RRFS popup available during the event.
